Nancy McWilliams is a living classic of modern psychotherapy and the author of the "Psychoanalytic Diagnosis." Her work is a fundamental textbook in the clinical training of psychotherapists. McWilliams' ideas serve as a backbone for colleagues from various therapeutic approaches.
Nancy will talk about working with paranoid and masochistic individuals. These two categories of clients are the most challenging to work with, both for beginners and experienced therapists.
Participants will learn about:
- Classification (from "normal" masochistic and paranoid traits to accentuations and up to the psychotic level)
- Diagnostic criteria
- Forming a relationship system
- Transference nuances
- Therapist's use of countertransference
- Therapy dynamics
Timing:
- Short introductory remarks
- First lecture block - 60 minutes
- Q&A session - 15 minutes
- Break - 15 minutes
- Second lecture block - 75 minutes
- Q&A session - 15 minutes
